Thanks for this, Dan. Totally agree that Americans care deeply about a sense of "fairness," that no one is "above the law" and everyone deserves a fighting chance and a level playing field. These are American ideas with deep resonance. Sadly, the words "impeachment" and "investigations" have been corrupted since the Bill Clinton era and now equate to more political red vs. blue infighting or "politics as usual" instead of proper checks and balances. I hate that that has happened but here we are, broadcasting live from the freaking White House and Jerusalem, filming immigration ceremonies as Steven Miller plays his fiddle, and ignoring the pandemic completely and utterly.

Thank you, Dan! Voters would be infuriated by this corruption if Dems highlighted it and showed that so many other failures – stuff Politico thinks is relevant – flow from this kind of abuse.

Ben Rhodes said it well yesterday, tweeting in response to cynical/misguided punditry: "It's not a choice between covering issues that matter to people and process. The reason people are losing health care, losing their jobs, and dying by the tens of thousands from COVID is precisely BECAUSE Trump treats the government as an extension of his political interests."

I hope Joe Biden and other Dems tie all of these violations together and make the case against blatant Republican corruption. It's as damning as the incompetence.
