Yes indeed. And about "freedom" as a centerpiece and rallying cry -- the white pundits do realize that the Dems have taken "freedom" back from the Republicans, but most of them haven't caught on that long before the Republicans grabbed hold of it, "freedom" was a major theme of songs sung by the enslaved in the U.S. "Wade in the Water," "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," "Follow the Drinking Gourd," "We're Gonna Sit at the Welcome Table," and on and on. (Supposedly "O Freedom" was written after the Civil War, but like the slave songs its authorship is unknown so I wonder.) I love it. We're not going back, but we're not losing touch with our history either.

Dems have scrambled both the media and the GOP with this huge shift in the party and its approach. status quo was Dems in disarray, and a party that seemed endlessly flat-footed not just re Trump but how to deal with the intense hatred and cruelty and ruthlessness of our opponents. this shift confounds all the narratives, and right now both media and GOPs are confused and furious bc we've scrambled their circuits by stepping out of the impotent identity we've been stuck in for so long.

Agreed. This ignoring traditional “press” which has become nothing more than a both sides show is genius. CNN is simply both sides to get clicks. They don’t call anything out for trump but destroyed Biden. Ignoring them and going direct to Americans is working. Keep doing this. Use that 540m to go direct. Don’t interview w cnn or fox etc. Direct messaging is what you need to keep doing. Call orangeturd out as crazy, which he is. Weird. Strange. His hair. His bronzer. His catalog ordered wife. His incestuous desire for his daughter. It’s all fucking weird man.

Exactly. All of this. About damn time.

Trump has become boring. Yeah he's still very dangerous, but his schtick is old and tired and pathetic. We've suffered from ten years of it and it's time to move on.

I think the other piece is that if you want to know what the republicans are up to, just watch what they’re accusing other people of doing. So, for instance because they are trying to pin a coverup of Biden’s health/acuity on Harris, we should probably know that’s what they’re doing with trump. And it should be called out and questioned. Same with the whole socialism trope. Keep pitting jt against oligarchy and see how it goes. May as well. It could be our last chance to say anything at all

I just love how the Harris team quickly took hold of the narrative and made TFG reactive. I felt like Biden, even in 2020, was too reactive to TFG and as a result, his trolling became dominant. The more persistent Harris’s team is, the harder it’s going to be for TFG to catch up. My husband and I are starting a pool on when TFG drops out of the ABC debate

To “weak, small, tired, confused, and frightened”—add “ugly”. It will drive him nuts.

I love waking up to this message, Dan. It is getting harder to tamp down the thought that she could actually lose because so many will still vote for that man. But I know there’s work to be done. I hope to explode rather than implode on November 6, assuming we know then.

I've been repeating "count the I's not the lies" and "me me me me me" ever since Bill Clinton's speech that night. It was perfect. A little long, per his usual, but perfect none the less.

Over the weekend I discovered: https://democracyforward.org Marc Elias (Elias Law Group, Democracy Docket) is the Chairman of the Board. We have donated to his group for years. On the Democracy Forward website you can find a 49 page summary of Project 2025 in a downloaded PDF format. This will be really helpful in our messaging! I also found a paperback summary on Amazon. It's coming Thursday so I can highlight key points. Hope this helps. I do not feel Project 2025 is getting enough emphasis but have to admit I do not watch television. (I did make an exception last week and watched every minute of the DNC.)

They are nailing the message! And the greatest result of hammering home the message that Trump is weak, cowardly and inept is that is just causes him to act weaker and more unhinged. We need to dispense with the strongman image once and for all.

You've done it again, Dan. You've kept my feeling of hope going. I sure appreciate your insight and your grounded optimism.

Question: Where is Liz Cheney? Why hasn't she joined Kinzinger et al. in endorsing Harris? She claimed she would be "devoting herself" to making sure Trump isn't reelected, but she hadn't done the one thing that would make a real statement. I keep receiving emails from "Our Great Task" asking for money, but it's unclear where this money goes. Do you expect Cheney to endorse Harris at any time?

The Bulwark’s most recent podcast with Tim Miller and Bill Kristol has a whole segment about Liz and other prominent Repos who have yet to endorse Harris and/or who weren’t at the convention.

My favorite part of this is that every time I hear him now he's railing against her and sounds like a toddler having a meltdown. The only exception I've heard in recent days was on NPR, where they clipped his audio so much he sounded reasonable. But it was only one sentence, and maybe no one was listening.
