I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was surprised by the negative reception of the convention from journalists. I don't think there's enough credit given for how much more this convention is speaking to the public instead of just talking to convention goers.

@Janie Dusenberry If the people you're talking to are Bernie supporters and admirers, I'd consider pointing out that Bernie is a man of integrity -- likely one of the reasons they admire him -- and it's a little demeaning to suggest he could be taken "hostage." Depending on your relationship with each person, you should probably take a more diplomatic, less patronizing tone, but that's the general idea.

I think it's been a hit so far. The new format has created a lot of content that is easily shareable with non-diehards who aren't watching. The speakers have been dynamic and all have had parts that have created buzz. Hard to think it's been anything but a success so far. Need Biden to bring it home with a strong speech tonight!

Hi Dan! Any tips for talking to people who think Bernie’s speeches/endorsements of Biden are just ‘hostage messages’?

If one of their primary objectives is increasing enthusiasm, spiting the activist and progressive wing of the partying by featuring repugnant billionaires and war criminals is a strange choice.
