The Message Box fills a gaping hole in the public conversation about national politics, and your expertise and experience make for excellent spackle. Congratulations on reaching 80K!

I find The Message Box valuable because it is so often actionable with messages and insight we can use whenever we’re in a position to persuade.

And between elections (does that actually occur anymore?) it’s reassuring, great at explaining, and often just plain entertaining.

Thanks for writing The Message Box.

Message box has been a bright spot for me in what have sometimes been dark times. It’s informative, insightful, and intelligent. I’ve been a subscriber almost from the beginning and will continue to be. Thanks for all you do.

I'm really grateful to have discovered you from my son, who works for Wisconsin Dems. I will have questions after next week's convention. Thank you so much. You make me feel calmer.

Thanks, Dan - I think i started subscribing after I read your book, and I've read every post since. I really appreciate your patient and thoughtful explanation of polling. I also appreciate that you do the Q & A - it really is helpful because people are smart, but we lack the experience you have. I also appreciate your sense of humor, and it's one of main reasons I love the Crooked pods.

I remember I had decided to require Dan's book in my PROPAGANDA AND PERSUASION course. Little did I know that it would lead to being part of this intelliegent family of fellow travelers. Also--it was the right book for the course!

I subscribed in your first week and I’ve truly enjoyed the four years of analysis and insight. You will be pleased to know that the Yes We Dan T shirt gets a great reception in Australia.

Ps how long before Trump sacks Lacivita?

Don’t agree with everything you say but I *always* learn something. This substack model of subscribing to individual newsletters is not sustainable for me — I subscribe to over 20 and while I believe in paying people for their work, it comes to something like $1500/year and I just can’t do it. But yours is one will hang on to as long as you produce it. Thanks!!!

For “structural advantages” read “control of state houses.” Which is why down ballot votes are so important in leveling the playing field. And protecting the integrity of the voting process.

I subscribe to way too many Substacks. This is the one that I read and share most often. Keep it going!

Congrats, Dan on the 80k!

TY!! I am very grateful for your experienced perspective on communication and campaign strategy. As an active constituent, it has informed my approach to this election and politics in general. I listen to PSA, Axe Files, The Bulwark, Kara Swisher et al.

Yikes, I’m now a political junkie!

“Musk has rendered Twitter (X) into a rotting husk of its former self. “

LOL. Well said. He stripped it of its dignity and respect. Sad.

Have you tried the Hacks on Tap podcast with David Axelrod and Mike Murphy? It’s no PSA, but it’s informative and entertaining.

Congrats Dan! I always love seeing this in my inbox and feel like I learn so much during each read. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and wealth of knowledge! I’m excited for your future messages, projects, and Q&As - all while also commiserating about the 76ers.

Subscribing to the Message Box was a no-brainer after discovering you on POD Save America, where the political discussion helped me feel like I might just survive the Trump years. Your analysis and ability to capture the core of issues has helped me especially with my despondent, paralyzed progressive friends who depend on MSM for their news. Congratulations on 80K!! And thank you for the Message Box.

The Message Box, like PSA is, for me, like a large support group. I keeps me calm...Dan carries my anxiety for me :)

Thank you for all your insights, Dan. I love the Q&A’s, even though I live in Hawaii so the threads are often verrrrry long when I first log on to them!

I was so happy when Substack began to take off. The idea of choosing who I was going to read and paying the authors directly was appealing, and the newsletters are so easy to access. I love the email notification, the ability to comment if I choose, and to read comments written by others. I also enjoy the ability to get a deep-dive into a topic, instead of a 3-5 minute sound bite, or a newspaper or magazine article that's light on detail. I know that podcasts are extremely popular now but I am almost exclusively a visual person. If I listen to a podcast with any important information it's difficult for me to focus and my mind wanders. I survived school (including getting a PhD) by writing down almost everything that was said. There's rarely closed captioning or a transcript with a podcast and I often have trouble with speakers who mumble, don't articulate well, use speech that is full of "um", "like" or other fillers, or who use slang or jargon that I'm not familiar with. If someone uses a word I'm not familiar with, or unsure of, I can't use the dictionary function. If there is a transcript I read that and skip the audio. I bought your book and I've been a subscriber since the beginning and, while I don't always agree with your analysis, I do enjoy reading your perspective.
