I am ready to re-register as an Independent. Democratic leadership just does not seem to get it. I am absolutely thrilled Mamdani won. Cuomo????!!!! WTF. Mamdani’s win gives me hope that we may have a future as a country. And I would put AOC and Bernie in that category.
AOC and Bernie are excellent examples of voters being "mesmerized by eloquence." AOC may develop into a effective legislator -- she's got time -- or even a potential executive. Bernie, OTOH, is long past his prime.
Why was there no discussion in this video of the outrageous comments this candidate made about Israel, his support of BDS, his nonrecognition of Israel as a Jewish state, and his awful quote; "Globalize the Intifada." Probably because since October 7, 2023, Israel and Jews are the enemy, no? For someone with these opinions to be the mayor of a city with the largest Jewish population outside of Israel, and to get elected is totally and completely inacceptable. Furthermore, he has made promises that he will never be able to carry out. To me he is a progressive MAGA, a liar as much as POTUS. He failed among black voters or those of working class, won by gaining white votes especially those in the upper class. No doubt unions, NYPD, city workers will eat him for lunch. The list of candidates for the Mayor was pathetic, not a single good candidate among them. And the worst was elected.
I was one of the thousands of canvassers who thoughtfully talked to hundreds of New Yorkers for the past few weeks/months. I talked to more than one Cuomo supporter for more than ten minutes before they conceded that they were now undecided. Very few people were unkind, mostly just busy. I’ve lived in NYC for over 40 years and have never campaigned for a mayor ever before. This was/is a unique and powerful campaign and politician.
Such a good discussion. I remember knocking a lot of doors in Pennsylvania for the Dems in 2024 and my takeaway is in sync with this conversation. People are desperate to have housing and health care costs more affordable. If the Dems had genuinely committed to lowering these, they would have won. In my view, that's all they should talk about and work for.

Confusing Derek Thompson for Derek Fisher really does cement Dan as Crooked's true ball-knower
