I wonder about the Texas electorate. This law has to enrage more than half TX women voters, and a good number of men. Maybe not a majority but a pretty significant minority. Combine that with the majority who want mask mandates and are ignored by Abbott, and the complete incompetence in managing the electric grid. Seems like Abbott and company at some point will overplay their hand with the voters. And get thrown out of office. Please?? Yes?

Thanks, Dan, this is great. What’s with Joe Manchin voting No? I mean we all know he’s a total fucking tool, but I didn’t know he’s also anti abortion.

Manchin's official position is he has been a lifelong abortion opponent.

Sinema, on the other hand, was something of a liberal until recently. She is pro-choice.

In July GOP congress people filed a brief with the USSC in the case involving the MS ban on abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy, urging the Court to overturn Roe and Casey if necessary. Only 3 GOP senators opted not to join them: Collins, Murkowski, and Capito.

Collins and Murkowski are fence-straddlers, opposing what anti-abortion people call "late term abortions" and favoring the usual exceptions for rape, incest, health of mother. Capito has been endorsed by West Virginians for Life and rated 100% by the National Right to Life Committee.

Let Them Eat Tweets does a wonderful job explaining how legislating by the judiciary was always the plan for conservatives. With republicans supporting tax cuts for the rich and an increasingly unpopular social agenda, the unelected judiciary was always going to be the end game.
