I hope that the other news orgs follow suit with Spanish-speaking media. Does Crooked have any plans for this?
Five Hearts for “A Ban Isn’t A Plan”
Debates are a 19th century anachronism in the internet age. Nothing of value is revealed and the media bends over backwards to declare the clear loser the winner. For example orangehead in 2016 was unable to even string together a coherent sentence and proudly knew nothing about the economy or foreign policy yet the media consistently declared him not only competent but a better debater! And we can all see how that turned out. Going back further, anyone with any intelligence at all could've see Bush jr was and is a complete failson idiot, yet he was declared the winner by most of the media. Voters are not clamoring for debates, it's only the media. We should ditch them.
The last time a Dem ran a sunny, optimistic campaign but addressed all the serious issues was FDR. Runners up were Obama, Clinton, and JFK. The worst was Carter (the gentile Lieberman, we later learned to call him), back then a scold among scolds.
The country is ready for someone strong, capable, and optimistic.
Also please write about the new Chief of Staff. We all treasure your insights or we would not be here. Is he as bad as the Intercept says?
Being mad at Trump and wanting to ban and indict him isn't a strategy.
We need to build a movement like we never have before: attractive, fun, substantive, visionary, tomorrow-oriented, rooted in people's lives, open-armed, fiery, merciful.
A movement that understands the emotion and psychology and anxiety that are at the heart of politics. The right gets this; the left largely doesn't. We need a new movement that does.
I’m tired of hearing the GOP’s complaints. That’s all they have. But their so called “biased” media laps them up and publishes the complaints as if they are news! And ignores all positive real legislative events.
I have paid for this bc I hope to see Dan reply. But rarely. A bit frustrating. Dan you are the pundit I trust more than any other. I don't pay for any other substacks except for my own son's. I keep asking questions and no replies. I love you, and all of you at PSA.
As for "A movement that understands the emotion and psychology and anxiety that are at the heart of politics. The right gets this; the left largely doesn't. We need a new movement that does." Dan I am so interested in what you think of Rev. William Barber II. A MacArthur Genius award-winner, seems like he is working to do just what you say. But he is still new to me. So I wonder what you think. Please say something about his work and your opinion.
Thank you. Good reminder--a Trump ban is not a strategy.
