Well, Elon Musk finally found a way to make Twitter fun again.

The billionaire narcissist’s vicious fight with a fellow billionaire narcissist was a delight for everyone who thinks Donald Trump and Elon Musk are terrible people doing terrible things to the country.

What started as a quasi-civilized (by Trump-Musk standards) debate over a budget bill quickly escalated. Musk claimed Trump was listed in the Epstein files and should be impeached. Trump threatened to cancel Musk’s defense contracts, and Trump allies called for Musk to be deported.

While these two man-babies duked it out digitally, the rest of us just grabbed a bowl of popcorn and watched. The tweets were funny. The memes were flying fast and furious.

On one hand, the Trump-Musk feud feels like a nice summertime diversion from our dreary existence—an entertaining, Bravo-esque fight between two awful people doing awful things. Don’t get me wrong: this is fun, and we should enjoy every minute of it. I certainly plan to.

But there’s also one way in which this fight is very politically useful—and it could play a significant role in the 2026 midterms.

Seriously.
