I used to be a Georgia voter and was so surprised when both Ossoff and Warnock got elected. I didn’t expect them to last through a re-election. I am so heartened by how well they are doing and by Georgia voters that have kept an open mind. I remember Warnock’s ad at the time, with a puppy - smiling and saying you’re going to hear a lot of bad talk, but no I don’t hate puppies. The El-Sayed add with his grandparents has similar feel.
There are so, so many things Dems should be screaming from the rooftops but this one does seem taylor made for the party that doesn’t seem to want to talk about anything but kitchen table issues.
They can roll the affordability crisis, deference to big business, do nothing republicans in congress and the criminality of the admin all into one 20 second sound bite. Will they actually take advantage of this is a whole other thing.
I'm not on social media enough to know what the Democrats are saying. Neither the NYT's, WaPo, NPR or Washington Week report much about Democrats having any consistent message. The GOP always has simple, 3 word phrases that stick in your brain, but the Democrats do not.
I like El-Sayed’s three phrase slogan - Money out of politics, Money in your pocket and Medicare for all. I am a Florida voter who spends the summer in Michigan. In nearby Gaylord there is a metal fabricator who for several YEARS had a trailer with 10 feet tall metal letters spelling Trump’s name. In front was a life size cut out of the president smiling and giving a thumbs up. At one point, a bandage was added to the ear. It was so irritating to drive by. But as the tariffs took effect, the whole thing disappeared and hasn’t returned. I wish / hope El-Sayed would show up and have a conversation with the owner of the fabrication shop and others like him. The thing Dan is pointing to, is one part of so many enraging things about Trump and his grift. ….Ennact tarriffs, prices go up, courts declare them illegal, prices stay up and corporations get a refund - but hey - let’s keep giving corporations more tax breaks. Ergh.
Dan, it seems like Jon Ossoff has the knack of telling this story effectively. Why don’t other Democrats bang this drum??

Jon Ossoff seems to be quite good at communicating many different things.
By not putting a spotlight on this, Democrats are signaling that this behavior is acceptable. It’s almost as bad as his Republican enablers.

This is a reverse Robin Hood heist: stealing from the people to give to the richest corporations.
