I’d like to see Democrats say something along the lines of “a jury of ordinary citizens has told us that Donald Trump worked *in an illegal way* to conceal the truth in 2016 because he thought it would help him in the election. Voters need to ask themselves, what is he concealing this time? What’s he lying about? We can’t trust him.”

Yes! And emphasize that this jury was chosen "with input from Trump's lawyers," as was pointed out on the Pod.

This is exactly what we are hearing--and is exactly what President Biden said this afternoon--just before he announced a high stakes opportunity for peace in Gaza.

In three and a half weeks there is a debate between President Biden and DJT the Felon. The country should hear--and see--the distinction between someone who is running to help America move forward and build the future--and a man who has no interest but his own vulgar gratififcation at the expense of the consitution, the rule of law and common decency. The ranting tirade by DJT (The felon) this afternoon was a psychotic screed against American democracy--and the truth. Meanwhile, Joe Biden offered hope of peace in Gaza, straight forward talk about the rule of law, and a vision of the common good. We can't win in November today. But--we can do better winning each day.

beautifully and powerfully expressed: "... his own vulgar gratification at the expense of the constitution, the rule of law and common decency." Thank you.

As always Dan, so grateful for your clear view of what needs to be done! Did you see George Conway on CNN this morning calling out Jennings for his lies? Hope to see lots more of this as the days go forward. Call out the GOP (Gutless Opportunistic Parasites). Infuriating that so many spewing the BS about the convictions are lawyers. Their law schools have to be embarrassed!!

As a nurse, I'm held to a different standard than the general public regarding the provision of health care. Seems to me that when *attorneys* so blithely and vociferously attack the court system and the rule of law in this country (in front of the media, no lessj), a disbarment investigation should commence immediately.

I hope disbarment investigations will happen. They certainly should. The GOP lawyers are an embarrassment to the legal field.

We have 2 nurses in our family, my daughter and oldest granddaughter, and 2 granddaughters currently working toward nursing degrees. :) Takes an exceptional person to be a nurse! ❤️

Nov 5th is not for the public to weigh in on the verdict (and I think that’s what the R’s are implying - somehow if Trump is elected he will be exonerated). Nov 5th is about the rule of law continuing and democracy winning over authoritarianism. I admit to some surprise that the verdict was unanimous on all counts but I am heartened by the legal system working as it was intended. The hard part now is convincing his base that he’s actually guilty of something.

God. I watched about 15 minutes of that press conference. He couldn’t even put two sentences together to say that Biden couldn’t put two sentences together. They can’t let him show up in a debate.

Thanks for today as always, Dan. It’s very clarifying. As I think you have addressed before, one simple thing that could make a huge amount of difference is to rebrand this from porn-star-hush-money case to 2016-election-interference case. The prosecution did a great job with it and it wouldn’t be a felony without that additional crime. And yet I noticed the NYT still seems fond of the former while the WaPo even got the latter into the headline. It makes such a huge difference in how it lands on the ear. Hush money doesn’t sound like any of my business but election interference sure is.

Any ideas about how to do that besides just using it ourselves?

Maybe it’s me but I am tired of the Trump antics and lies and I am turned off and frankly not paying attention. I think timing is key and the Democrats need to be full throttle by September when folks really decide about candidates. Meanwhile let’s focus on voter registration and turnout and building a ground game and organization to support all candidates. Remember all those Republican primary candidates who proudly broadcast they were endorsed by Trump now we have great ammunition to win down ballot races.

I agree, and also agree with Dan that we have to jump in NOW so that Rs, once again, don't prevail with their dishonest framing of these events.

I read a WaPo article a day or two ago that said many, if not most, 18 to 29 year-olds use Tik Tok for their major news source and the rightwing dominates the political news. (There may be some concern about foreign troll bots ruling the framing of that news. PRC, perhaps?) The article said that that may be affecting the polling among that age group.

I would like to see college demonstrators holding rallies and saying, with regards to Trump, "Lock him up," or some similar rant and posting it on Tik Tok.

I have been referring to him for awhile as "The Loser" – from this point on I get to refer to him as "The LoserFelon"...

Clear through November and out the other side, because we will not be free of the MAGA cult after the election, by any means.

Dan, I love this part here: "One of the core lessons of communications—especially in a world where the traditional press has a fraction of its previous reach—is that if you want people to know something, you have to tell them and then tell them again and again. Once you are so sick of saying something that you might puke, you probably need to say it a couple more times." American Independent writer Oliver Willis (who also has a Substack) would heartily agree as well!

Hopefully the Biden campaign managers and advisors are open to your suggestions and advice. At present, the campaign is lackluster and it worries me. Unfortunately Mrs. Obama's honorable and oft repeated admonition of 'when they go low we go high' plays right into Trump's and MAGA's hands. The campaign needs to speak louder and stronger and counterpunch more often. It may not be our nature but letting Trump control the narrative will spell doom down the road. We cannot let that happen.

Also feels like now is the window for really pushing vulnerable Republican House members who are trying to portray themselves as moderates if they are still supporting Trump now that he is a convicted felon.

Unfortunately they will stay quiet. They fear Trump . Just look at how the campaign responded to Larry Hogan. Instead we need people like Asa Hutchinson, Mitt Romney and ....Nikki Haley( if she'd come to her senses )to speak up. In the end though, we cannot rely on anyone but ourselves to spread the message.

This is good for the criticism of the entire justice system but what should we say to people who specifically insist that just the judge in the NY case was corrupt (all that stuff about his daughter...etc.). A person I know who STILL is planning on voting for trump despite the conviction claims that trump and his team were shut down by the judge every time they tried to bring up their defense of "he was just following his attorney's advice" during the trial. I'm sure that's nonsense but since the trial was closed to the public, I'm not sure how to argue this point.
