I believe that we are all so anxious to correct all of the wrongs of the previous administration that we are a bit impatient but I am learning to see the longer game. So much has already been accomplished and those things are critically important. I knew it would take a long time to unravel or unfuck everything that is vital to this country and to Democracy and yet I am impressed on the pace so far. I am glad you posted this because I needed some clarity on Manchin's position and also Biden's. It makes sense that Biden would test the waters, see how much pushback there is, establish a history of obstruction and then take the measures needed to address it. It seems we are "on the clock" a bit for the '22 elections but I am hoping with platforms like The Message Box, Pod Save America and Pod Save the World, (and so many others) the word will get out to keep the pressure on and the interest high. Thank you for this post Dan.
Thanks for explaining Manchin. Democrats need to understand the position that he is in. There is a lot of criticism and I am grateful everyday that he is there - otherwise McConnell holds all the power. I also hear too many people say that Biden is "living in the past" and just isn't realistic about the current political environment. I don't think there is anything further from the truth. So far, he seems to be navigating this current political environment with mastery. We need to applaud this.
McConnell's remarks (threats) today look to be the words of a worried MINORITY leader. "Scorched earth Senate"...right, and when he was MAJORITY leader, what was THAT called??? I will never forget the treatment of Merrick Garland and the rush to confirm Kavanaugh and Barrett.
Biden can pummel the GOP and their lack of unity from the insurrection, and rely on the popularity of these bills. Spread the word on your facebook and twitter pages.
I notice you completely avoided talking about Sinema. Is she still a factor or do you think she will go with Manchin? My opinion of Manchin has also "softened" a bit lately and I totally agree that if you listen carefully to their words (Manchin & Biden), there is hope out there.

And "boo" to the messages about typos and punctuation, seriously?
