Abortion is on the ballot in Montana. What needs to happen there is a drive to get more women registered to vote. I do not understand why more attention isn't being paid to campaigning in certain fly-over states. Obama won Iowa in the caucuses and in the general election in 2008. Kansas has a Democratic governor. Tim Walz was born in Nebraska. If Democrats campaigned in those states, emphasizing the very dangerous farm proposals in Project 2025, could these 3 states flip Blue. We need some "insurance" states when thinking about the voter suppression in George, Florida, Texas. I trust the incredible voter registration and GOTV campaigns going on around the country. The Senate races in Florida and Texas are winnable for us. Liz Cheney endorsed Colin Allred. Debbie needs to emphasize not just abortion, but the cuts to Social Security and Medicare that would happen under Project 2025.

Kunce, Missouri?

I was wondering the same thing. Hawley decided to show up at the last second to the Missouri Press Association candidate forum in Springfield on Friday.

Think it’s possible? Kunce has worked very hard for a long time

I live in Texas, and Cruz is universally disliked and hasn’t really campaigned as far as I know. We need spending here. I know Texas has been a classic example of throwing good money after bad (the last election of both Cruz—against Beto!—and Cornyn, but Allred played in the NFL and is moderate. Send Texas some resources! Apropos of nothing I volunteered to write postcards for a swing state, and they sent me 200 Texas Dem voters.

If Tester loses and Brown wins, resulting in a 51-49 Republican Senate, and Harris wins the Presidency; she should offer Susan Collins whatever Ambassadorship or low level cabinet she wants so Mills can fill that vacancy with a Democrat flipping control back to the Dems as Walz would be the tie breaking vote.

Or she could offer Cruz the ambassadorship to Transylvania, or Lindsay Graham the ambassadorship to Key West.

It is easier and more likely to rid humanity of STDs than Texas of Cruz; HOWEVER, I take a fragile hope from the anger of my Latino house and yard help. Their hatred of Governor Abbot is incandescent and readily expresses as voluntary expressions of border and grocery support for Kamala.

I really think the Dems should fundraise and go for it. Why not? There are liberal superpacs out there dying to give money away too....it's unfortunate that it takes piles of cash for people to vote in their own best interests: but here we are.

Yes, Democrats have been chasing fools gold in Florida and Texas for a long time now., particularly Texas. But sometimes in life when you get a feeling about something, you just go for it regardless of whether or not you succeed. I believe that these two Senate races are good examples of this. You never know. You may strike real gold.

Plus, neither Scott nor Cruz are popular in their own state. I’d hate to pass up an opening.

Hi, Dan! As a Texan fighting the good fight, this idea thrills me… and it also makes good sense. As we say down here, “Texas is not a red state; It’s a non-voting state.” Would you please send out a correction with a hot link to Allred’s campaign?

What about Lucas Kunce-he is a great candidate against Josh Hawley. Supporting the Senate candidates is a smart use of the Harris-Walz resources

Rick Scott of FL has never won an election, as governor and senator, by more than 1%. He is eminently beatable. As I understand it, Cruz is the most disliked official in TX — a state with a seeming surplus of dislikable elected officials.

I find it very hard to believe that the DNC can’t raise a hundred million dollars to deliver Harris a Democratic majority.

Let’s remember that JFK lost NY and CA and won TX and FL while winning the presidency. States do switch political identities no matter how unlikely it may seem.

Spoken like a naive fool. Television and digital ads cost money. So do print materials and GOTV efforts. These two states are large, with over a dozen media markets each, and together, 15% of the country’s population.

Clearly you believe that money in politics is evil. Most of us realize these things: in this reality, you have to get elected to effect change; in this country, we spend $60 billion on pet food in a year and nearly a billion dollars on deodorant. A billion dollars to run an election seems reasonable.

The cost of running elections is well accounted for and somewhat regulated. Most of us separate that from payoffs, bribery and influence money.

Your preference for personal verbal assault is well known and well documented. Other than childish taunts and superficial squawking about “money on politics” your deeper thoughts are not known. If they exist.

If you ever expect to persuade anyone, you have to define what you mean by “money in politics” and explain how anyone could get elected without fully funding election costs.

Your current approach doesn’t work for anyone. Have you ever persuaded anyone to this “concept of a plan”?

I recently moved from MA to FL. So, there is a single vote! Seriously, I think FL deserves a look - Scott (anecdotally) does not seem particularly popular here. His demeanor, policies and longevity are all vulnerabilities. There is a crack to be exploited.

Love the idea of investing in Montana with Tester's strength despite the odds and the heavy shift towards right wing extremism in Montana in recent years...hope he can prevail nevertheless....love that in Montana our dollars go a long way....also appreciate caution re Texas and Florida being expensive markets that take beaucoup bucks....but do like these candidates...alot!!! Have not hears of Nebraska Dem but LOVE Lucas Kunce in Missouri....against the absolutely vacuous and craven Josh Hawley....any thoughts on Kunce's chances...he is getting plenty of money from what I understand...

I've given money to all three. I am in MD and door knocking here. Even people who volunteer what they know about Project 2025 -- so they are paying attention -- ask, "Who is Angela Alsobrook?" Everyone knows Hogan's name. That these informed people don't recognize her name concerns the bejeepers out of me. Plus his ads (lie) and make him sound so reasonable. She's either spending less momey or in places I am not paying attention. Dan, what is the polling here? We cannot take this seat for granted.

Would love nothing more than for Allred to win in TX but much like the expectations of the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl, I’ve been burned so much over the last 2 decades that I’ll believe it once it happens, not going to get my hopes up. I have seen 0 Allred or Cruz signs, which I do find interesting. Only thing that gives me some hope is perhaps the top of the ticket could drive new/young voters turnout that helps down ballot.
