Good thought but Governor is not really "down ballot." Secretary of State and County election officers are too often overlooked by Democrats and really hold the key, as we saw in the GA Senate election last year. Republicans don't overlook these offices.
Yes! And in Oregon Kate Brown is term-limited, so we are going to need a lot of help to get another Democrat elected. Don't assume Oregon is a safe blue state - there are whole swaths of the state that are inclined toward insurrection. Google State of Jefferson and also remember the armed takeover of the Malheur ranger station by the Bundys and their friends.
Thanks, Dan. This elephant of fighting hard to protect our democracy seems so overwhelming at times that it’s very helpful to have a roadmap of reasonable things we can do to help outside of our own community. I’ll look forward to more examples in the weeks and months ahead.
There are so many candidates/groups asking for my money right now! I've been donating to several key secretary of state funds, a general fund for Vote Save America, and occasional other candidates. Are governors races more important to donate to? It's hard to figure out the best way to donate effectively.
If it's helpful to anyone, last month I made this slate that includes all the gubernatorial candidates Dan mentions, plus a few AGs and Secretaries of State. I'll be updating as we get through more primaries:
You can click "customize amounts" to tailor the amount you would like to contribute to specific campaigns on this slate. I don't get anything if people use this slate. I have just found that having a one-stop-shop where they can donate in a single transaction makes it easier for people to actually support candidates. (Dan, delete if not ok to include here.)
Dan, I'd really like to know what you think about the Republicans new effort with the Electoral Count Act. It seems like a typical GOP sleight-of-hand that will do nothing more than muddy the waters and distract from any real progress. I guess my question is, is that the intent, and will they succeed in derailing real reform with it?
Agreed......There will be some really good fights to be had! Tx and FL as well! Please keep the message going....SO critical! Thanks Dan for all you do!
I live in Florida and Ron DeSantis is running for re-election this November as well. Several Democratic candidates are competing against one another in the primaries currently, and our primary race isn't until late August, which doesn't leave a lot of time in the general to run against DeSantis. Whichever Democrat wins the primary race, though, is going to have my vote, donations, and volunteer efforts to defeat DeathSantis 100%.

I love the practical advice to fight what seems like an overwhelming threat.

Thanks for putting something out there that is concrete and doable. How do we get our friends to see that this is real?
