Dan, I know this is off-topic for this post, but is Sinema switching to be an independent the most cynical political move you’ve seen in a while? Seems pretty clear she’s doing this to hold a gun to democrats head - if they run someone against her she stays in and a Republican is guaranteed to win.

What a shame, I enjoyed that week of not having to think about her.

The pod cast by Ruth Be-Ghiat is excellent--and I have already shared it with my students who are registered for "Dictatorships and Tyranny" next spring semester. She is very good---her book "STRONGMEN" is highly recommended too.

I agree with the prior comment - we need a whole Message Box on Sinema becoming an independent. Is she really the one getting legislation passed which is what the Politico article implied. Curious minds want to know.

Back in the 60s and 70s the GOP could and did brand our party as “soft on Radicals” or even “The Radical Left”. It was somewhat legitimate as there was a significant fringe that was attracted to these dead-end sociopaths.

The shoe’s on the other foot now. We can and should unrelentingly call out those who hobnob with those on the “anti-semite-to-outright-Nazi spectrum” . And ask every other Republican, “If the GOP isn’t a racist party, why do the racists all think it is?”

For those of you too young to remember that era, the recent podcast Mother Country Radicals unintentionally shows these middle-class sociopaths to be just educated enough to put an overlay of some sort of legitimacy on their actions. In reality, they were self-deluded violent nihilists who ultimately failed in every aspect of what they claimed to be their goals.

Stop the SCOTUS Coup - Is there any way to affect decisions made by SCOTUS? I feel like by the time a case gets to them there is nothing an average person can do. I would be more accepting of their decisions if the court were balanced but it's not and clearly their personal opinions, especially when it comes to religion, play a stronger role than the precedent or common sense.

loved and appreciate the template of the Warnock speech...except for the God/glory stuff. Wish all higher power references could get sucked out of politics entirely.
