First, I adore you. Second, we have to stop talking about the Trumpean melodramas as "Shakespearean." Never, not on his worst day, did Shakepeare create a character as empty, or a story as vile, as Trump and his little baby Trumps. Richard III, Iago, and Aaron the Moor are characters with insight into themselves and levels of complexity. It's an insult to a great writer to dignify that crap by calling it Shakespearean. Once more, I adore you.

Isn’t Manchin angry over Tanden’s 2016 tweet about his daughter’s Epi Pen financial haul?

It has been maddening to watch this play out. The press gets a headline in their daily script and just won't let it go. But to be fair... the tweets a much ado about nothing as compared to anyone's tweets in the Trump administration and I think that is the only point that needs to be drummed into the public view. To let the Trump people's nonsense stand and beat on Tanden is just insulting to the public. Lisa Murkowski and Joe Manchin should be asked how the tweets compare with Trump's admins over the years... They will, of course say... I didn't see the tweet.

Thank you for this. I thought it was me, reading this overblown hyperbole in so much of the media about Neera Tanden, and thinking how crazy this is. Your perspective and balance is very much appreciated. I wish the mainstream media, especially the highly respected participants like the Times and WaPo, take note. I really wish we could get back to intelligent reporting that is a little boring to read, but informative. I want to read about Biden’s policies and how they will help America, not this soap opera crap.

Trust me, it's NOT you.

Thank you. I needed to hear your thoughts on this to help me over the anger at all that trash talk out there. Will we ever have a "white male tweet accountability moment"? Also comments on news coverage are spot on. The media wants/needs a scandal and Biden is just not delivering. (thankfully for most sane folks)

Is it possible to appoint her as acting head of the OMB?

Ron Klain said that they would find a place for her in the administration but that it wouldn't be at OMB

I don't care about her tweets either way, they weren't that clever. But this is my good faith question that I haven't seen an answer to. If she has a temper enough to physically put hands on a reporter, then wouldn't that question her ability? https://observer.com/2019/04/neera-tanden-pushed-journalist-hillary-clinton-iraq-war/

Is there another role, equally influential role for Tanden that doesn’t require senate approval?

Thank you for this reassurance. It helps.

How do you not include how Bernie Sanders and other progressives aren't happy with her confirmation? She's literally suggested that Libya let us have our companies pillage their oil sector as payback for our help. Your takes usually are salient, but don't die on this hill.

Thank you so much Dan...this has been written about by Eric Boelhert as well in his Press Run newsletter. One thing that the MSM ALWAYS seems to NOT mention is this factoid: Did Seung Min Kim ALSO show Lisa Murkowski the tweet that was highly complimentary about Senator Murkowski? Of course not...the story would not have attracted the same amount of attention. Shame on Ms. Kim.
